Wednesday is my Monday!!

Wednesday General Help is my Monday of the week!!

I love getting started on Wed. for my work week, its so much fun to catch up with everyone after they have had a weekend to experience new events and a day or two to catch up and come in share their news!

Today was quite busy at Sip & Knit, lots of laughs left me overheated and chuckling for quite a while :).  

I want to thank all who were patiently waiting for my help while I worked my way around the room, I know sometimes it can be frustrating however please know that I am aware and try to give everyone equal time, but, please do not hesitate to grab me if you are crunched for time. Everyone is equally important to me, so please jump on me if you need too, I have a 16 yr old son a husband and chihuahua (the staffie is a dream), believe me I can take it!!! and I confess, I love it!

Feel free to leave any comments or antic-dotes in the comment section I would love to start sharing the day with those who cant make it in for one reason or another!

Restart my Heart!! New Classes Here

Well, guess I have been inspired to restart my blog.  Please forgive me this last year and half has been quite the challenge.  I can hardly believe it has be a year since the "great gallbladder incident of 2011"!!  Things have finally evened out and Doni and I are back on track!!

I have put up some workshops to get the ball rolling, if you have any requests or would like to see a time added to any class already listed please let me know.  I intend to get to my blog at least once a day.

Please make a note that Thursday Evening General Help has been moved to Friday at 5 -8 pm and will be available along with our new Happy Hour Fridays, so look for the Martini Glasses for your yarn special for the Happy Hour!!

Unforturnatly there is a problem with my Bravenet Calander, I have updated it 2xs and it does not show the update. I am waiting for an answer so that it can be fixed asap!! Please note that as of now I do not have any cancellation dates for any General Help Classes I will post them here if one should come up and the calander is still not operating.

NEW CLASSES BEING GENERATED NOW

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support as our family says goodbye to its oldest member , my Grandma, my sons Great-Grandma, she was 92 and was a part of our lives. I was very lucky to be with her the evening before she passed away. This has been a difficult time especially for my father, this was his mother.

I am now back in the swing of things and I deeply apologize for the gap in my postings.

I have posted the General Help Schedule for June and July

I am generating classes for June and July. Some of June is posted in my Bravenet Calendar just click the blinking icon and flip through the calendar to see what is evolving. I should be done with this after class today before dinner.

General Help Update

THERE WILL BE NO GENERAL HELP THIS SUNDAY APRIL 18TH,2010.

I have decided to begin swapping some of the Sunday General Help Sessions for Saturday General Help Sessions!! Please keep a close eye on the calander and as always Doni will be sending out an email when the schedule is completed.

Rae-Ann and I will be posting classes for the Spring and Summer so keep on the look out for that schedule also!!

Please come by and see all the new yarn and patterns that have been coming in on a regular basis!!

Long Time no Post!!

So much as been going on since my last post.

My son Alex now about to turn 14, made the Allstate Middle School Audition Band here in Florida, and he has also made 1st Chair for All County Middle School in Seminole County. We had a great time in Tampa with our fellow school mates. Boy was it cold that weekend. It was held at the Tampa Convention Center Jan 7th, 8th, and 9th. He is such a great percussionist and just a heart and soul musician he makes me so proud. It even cancels out all that aggravation he causes me just being a teenager!! This is the picture we took after his concert with his Allstate Plaque:

Cables Cables Cables!!!- If you have never knit cables but always wanted to, this is the class for you!! If you have knit cables and wanted to make your "own thing" but need a little direction then this is the class for you!! You will be learning how to work a cable with or without a cable needle!! You will learn how to insert a cable into a project. We will be casting on for a cabled scarf and you will have this project knitted up in no time!! Yarn will be included in class so please bring a fully stocked knitting bag with needles from sizes 7 thru 11. If you have a pattern with cables please bring it and we will explore it together.

Christmas Stocking - We will be knitting a full size Christmas Stocking!! This class will meet 3 times and there will be homework in between. Your stocking will be ready to hang by the last class!!

Toe Up Sock - Learn this special cast on for the toe up socks as well as the increases to get you to the foot by the time you leave. Choose your toe up pattern from any designer you like. I will have a basic toe up sock pattern for you if you are unable to decide!! Jazz it up easily with a simple rib or anything else you like. You can chose 2 circular or magic loop. You do not have to know how to use these techniques prior to class. Learning either one of these techniques is simple and very enjoyable.

Magic Loop Method - Learn this quick and simple technique of knitting in the round with just one long circular needle. Uses include socks , sleeves, holiday ornaments, mittens and anything else you can think of!! Please bring a long circular needle in a size 6 or 7 or 8 32" or longer yarn will be provided.

Duplicate Stitch- Learning this technique is easier than you think. Add a name to anything. Your swatches will be waiting for you when you get to class as well as yarn to stitch with and my favorite alphabet chart.

Heel for your Toe Up Sock!! - Ok so you have your toe up sock ready for your heel, weather you have taken the toe up class or just started one on your own this class wil have you finished with the heel and ready for the cuff by the time you leave.

Fit Class - Do you shy away from knitting garments because you don't know what size to make or you don't like how it fits once it is completed? In this class you will learn how to make the correct size for you what"ease" is and how relates to the fit of garments and how to modify patterns to make them fit you. There is not knitting involved in this class. Please bring tape measure and a pencil

I will be posting a commission I did which will be photographed for the Florida Film Festival Poster, and no it wasnt a knitted piece it was a cross stitched piece!! I had fun doing it but I am glad to be back to knitting!!

Update on classes

Wendy Johnson is here and teaching her workshops at Sip & Knit, Inc.!! We are all having so much fun and everyone was able to complete the tasks she has given us. Tomorrow we continue with the Heel & Toe class as well as the Design class. That is the one I cant wait for!!

I am currently doing the winter schedule and will be posting that in about 2 weeks any requests will be appreciated.

Monkey Socks - If you feel its time to do an actual pattern on you sock cuff or just have been looking for another pattern to do then the Monkey Socks are for you. You just need to bring your stocked knitting bag and sock needles either dpns or circulars and you are ready to go!!

Oops! I Dropped a Stitch - In this class we will practice the techniques used for picking up a dropped stitch, dropping a stitch to correct a mistake and ripping out rows safely!! This class is limited to six students so register early!! Your swatches will be waiting for you at class!! You need to bring size 7,8,or 9 needles, crochet hooks in either H I or J, a chibi, cotton thread and the smallest circular you have.

Circular Shawl - Learn how to cast on from the center and knit this gorgeous shawl. You will be needing 2 circular needles, one 16 inch and one 32 inch, both in a size either 6 or 7 as well as lock ring markers, make sure to include a different marker to mark the start of the round. Once you cast on and get going it will be easy sailing to finish!!

Forest Canopy Lace Shawl- Are you ready to knit a triangular lace shawl? This is a beginner shawl pattern that can be memorized after just a few repeats!! We will cover how to enlarge the shawl as well. Yarn for the small shawl is included. You will need a size 7 circular needle at lease 24" in length, fingering weight waste yarn, tapestry needle, and stitch markers.

Prerequsitis- Must be able to knit and purl comfortably with increases and decreases

4 Sessions with Rae-Ann
Wed 9/16, 9/30, 10/14 & 10/28 3-4:30 or Mon 9/21, 10/5, 10/19 &11/2 6:30-8:30pm

Short Sleeve Sweater Class- If you hate to sew up seams, consider this short sleeved cardigan. This class is a seamless sweater knit from the top down with minimal finishing. You can also customize the sweater. Stop by the shop to see several models knit from this pattern. You will need a size 7 32" circular needle (or size to get gauge), stitch markers, waste yarn and notions.

Homework - Knit a gauge swatch and get the appropriate gauge prior to the start of class. Gauge is 18 stitches to 4"

Prerequisites- Must know how to knit and purl and consider yourself and advanced beginner

Lace Scarf- If you ever wanted to try lace knitting but were afraid to venture out on you own, this is you chance. We will cover the basics of lace including increases and decreases used in lace, reading charts and how to use a "life line". You will need a #5 single point or circular needle, fingering weight waste yarn and tapestry needle.

Prerequisites- Must be able to knit and purl

Fri 10/23, 10/30 1:30-3:00pm or Sat 10/24, 10/31 1:30-3:00pm

Mittlets- Do you need a gift idea that would be suitable for all shapes and sizes? Would you like to cable but don't like the idea of having to use a cable needle? Learn how to cable without a cable needle while completing a "mittlet" or fingerless glove. You will need#2 DPN or 2 circular needles, stitch markers and notions.

Homework- Cast on 51 Stitches, Join in the round and do a K2,P2 ribbing for 2 inches

Movin and Grovin

Just wanted to take a minute to give an update to all.

I have recently joined twitter so feel free to follow me knittingknotes!!

I am currently working on a schedule for September and October.

The specialty classes will include Mitred Square, Entrelac, Colorwork and Lace.

I will be doing classes like, Increases and Decreases, Oops I dropped a stitch, and Advanced Sock classes as well.

We will be have a fabulous workshop for the socks just pop in and ask Doni!

I am leaving for NY on August 10th and I will return to work on August 19th. I will answer text messages only so feel free to text me if you need me. I will be updating twitter regularly so feel free to follow me around NY!!

Knit In - Classes

Well the Knit in at Sip & Knit, Inc. for the UFO's was very successful!!! We will definitely will be doing these again!!

I will be posting some picks from that event shortly.
